The Environment AgencyIn line with the UK Governments spending cuts, DEFRA has announced significant cuts and structural reform to its largest non‐quango body, The Environment Agency. DEFRA believes radical reform is required in order to make the Environment Agency leaner with greater levels of efficiency, whilst it also provides an end to any potential policy‐making and lobbying activities. The proposed cuts include a 20% reduction in back‐office staff and significant cuts to their overall budgets. DEFRA and the Environment Agency believe disruptions to the services will be kept to an absolute minimum. Despite this, many public and private sector organisations fear the effects this could have on the already complex CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.
