The Queen

Looks like some good news to come out of The Queen’s Presentation to the Nation. Further to some of our comments last month (see Pirates & Energy Companies) about legislation appearing on the horizon, sailing to the rescue of not only Consumers but Business as well, looks like there will be real regulations in place. Not only that, finally, maybe OFGEM will get some teeth. The general contempt with which much of the supplier base treats businesses may be about to change.

Instead of collecting complaints, OFGEM will become ‘proactive’ in their efforts to support Consumers and force real competition, rather than oligopolistic market-share maintenance. OFGEM’s ability to impose fines will be beefed up. Let’s hope it happens.

Another major area covered is that of Carbon Reduction Commitment, and its new more specific corollary; the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. In simple terms on a macroscopic level, power generators being responsible / supported in their efforts to pump CO2 underground. These efforts will go hand in hand with the involvement of Business in improving its Carbon Reduction levels with the New CRC Carbon Efficiency Scheme which is being implemented even as we speak (more of CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme soon).

Let’s see what the practicalities will be?
