CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) is a compulsory compliance scheme, devised and overseen by the Department for Energy and Climate (DECC) and administered by the Environment Agency.
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme started in April 2010. It targets emissions that are not already covered by Climate Change Agreements (CCAs) or the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).
The CRC Scheme is intended to; improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and help all businesses save money by reducing energy bills across the private and public sector. All UK organisations with electricity metered half-hourly are required, by law, to participate. It was previously known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment.
